Vertical Urban Sprawl by JakeMurray Vertical Urban Sprawl by JakeMurray
Concept piece I conceived of while driving across the flat lands of Indiana to the slightly less flat lands of Ohio. Photoshop CS3. 2010.

Reminds me of Sky City 1000. Beautiful.

Thanks! Most of the sense of distance comes from what's called atmospheric perspective. That is, as an object gets farther and farther away from you, there is more air between you that will absorb light, and the object will lose detail and contrast and take on more of the color of the background atmosphere (in this case the blueness of the sky color). :)

seeing that in real life would just amaze me, it would be a remarkable feat of engineering brilliance... especially because you could probably see it from the max view distance of the human eye wile driving through Indiana,Nebraska,Ohio, and the like lolz

Yeah, if only there were something like this to give us more to look at over the plains in the mid-west. Not that the plains themselves aren't beautiful. :)
